My Bio:

I have six years of academic training in anthropology under my belt, but I learned the most about people and culture through incredible life experiences that happened all over the world. I’ve lived in two foreign countries– England for two years and Peru for six months, have traveled extensively in Asia and Africa, and directed a summer camp in northern Minnesota for years. My greatest goal is to help people see and understand the world differently.

I moved back to Minneapolis in 2007, and for two and a half years was working as the Cultural Anthropologist at OLSON. We developed a strategic process for account planning called Brand Anthropology; this process enables OLSON to profile brand communities using state of the art metrics and anthropological methodologies.

In December 2009, I left OLSON to pursue the application of brand strategy and marketing innovation to non-profits, foundations and companies focused on social responsibility and sustainability. Think of it as Strategy for Good.

I have skills in cross cultural communications, trendspotting, cultural insight generation and strategic planning, and an ability to discover and analyze the interrelatedness of the PERKs of human behavior: politics, economics, religion and kinship. I am am able to help companies face challenges in the changing demographics of their clients, employees and organization partnerships, and to bring human behavioural insights from the anthropological sphere to their strategic business models.

I have also worked extensively in the non-profit sphere- as a board member and consultant- advising organizations in areas such as strategic planning, participant recruitment and retention, diversity and pluralism, development, marketing and communications strategy, branding, board relations and community building.
